A miracle you may touch… The only known and confirmed case of imperishable body thoughts the whole world. The story of Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov, the leader of Buddhists in Russia in the early 20th century. His phenomenon intrigues many scientists and attracts thousands of believers from all over the world. The legend tells us that when the monk turned 75 years old, he decided that it was time for him to pass away. He sat in the lotus position, began chanting the prayer of death, and died while meditating. Following his requests, monks buried Itigilov in the position he passed away in and then exhumed his body 30 years later. What they discovered was incomprehensible – the monk’s body had no signs of decay and decomposition. Some scientific examinations that took place later concluded that his body was in the condition of someone who died 36 hours ago. Did such person ever exist; is it a myth or reality? How could body be preserved for so long without any extreme environmental conditions or mummification? What are scientific implications of this discovery? The film crew of the Unknown Planet seeks answers to these questions. The search took them to India, Mexico, Italy, Japan and Ivolginsky Datsan – the Buddhist Temple located in Buryatia, Russia. What they discovered was beyond any expectations, beyond what is comprehensible…
